Introspection and Perception...

Why don't people think like I do and act in a manner like I would? Of the many people I have gotten to know, very few think like I do.
A part of me thinks I must be crazy!
Then again, maybe I am unique!
Focusing too much on these things can be lonely and disheartening. Based on my mood, my perspective on the topic will likely change.
Ah well.
Even I cannot predict my perceptions sometimes! With all these inconsistencies,
why do we take all these personality tests? Why do we seek a soul mate or a kindred spirit?
Is it to find someone like minded?
Or is it maybe to understand ourselves better?
Maybe it is to help us understand others' types of style--whether it be personality, astrology, attachment style, spirituality, sexuality, communication style, hobbies, birth order, etc. the list goes on and on. We naturally try to categorize ourselves to help us perceive ourselves and others. I think this genuine search has led many to stereotypes, prejudices and just general fear and judgement of what we cannot relate to. It can also help those of us who feel different connect with those we cannot relate to.
The search to knowing myself and expanding my mind has led me down many a strange path. It has shaken long standing beliefs I have held fast to my entire life, and truly we must all stand on our own with no person around and identify for ourselves what we believe in and live for.
We are accountable only for ourselves.
At this point in my life I hold certain things very dear to my being: truth, honesty, love, acceptance and kindness. We have to be honest with ourselves--face our ugliness when we do things we are not proud of; allow ourselves the chance to be vulnerable which, yes, at times means pain and rejection and failure; and see our imperfection--extend grace to ourselves for being that which we are--human, and then do the same for those around us.
"The problem with introspection is that it has no end." (Philip K. Dick)
Once you begin the process of self reflection-- you will always be in a constant state of self examination and growth. It is a never ending journey in which you will always be open to changing and bettering yourself.
This is a worthy cause for all of us to strive for.
